Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? for the Master System adapts the computer original's gameplay into a side-scrolling format. Players directly control a detective through city environments, entering buildings to question people and using phone booths to input suspect characteristics such as eye color (replaced with vehicle in this version). If the player is on the correct trail, the suspect may appear and take a shot that must be jumped over to avoid losing time.
